Durante la defensa de Buenos Aires el 16 de junio de 1955 se produjo un combate aéreo entre una escuadrilla de interceptores Meteor leales al mando del 1er. Tte. Juan García (volando el Meteor matrícula I-039), 1er. Tte. Mario Olezza (I-077), 1er. Tte. Osvaldo Rosito (I-090) y el Tte. Ernesto Adradas (I-063), frente a las máquinas rebeldes AT-6 Texan, pilotadas por Tte. de Corbeta Máximo Rivero Kelly (en el Texan matriculado 0342/3-A-29) y el guardamarina Armando Román (0352/3-A-23). El combate se produjo a baja altura sobre el Aeroparque Metropolitano Jorge Newbery y el Río de la Plata, cayendo el Texan del rebelde Román bajo los cañones de Adradas. Román pudo saltar en paracaídas cayendo al río y Adradas logró el primer derribo de la Fuerza Aérea Argentina y el primer derribo realizado por un reactor en el Continente Americano.
